STEP 1. Run a switch-off campaign
Energy savings can be made in your office simply by turning lights off when an area is not in use.
- Educate the staff about the benefits of making energy savings and how to achieve the greatest economies.
- Clarify whose job it is to turn lights off and make it easy for them to do so.
- Give staff regular feedback about savings made.
Step 2. Make a lighting efficiency improvement plan
- Perform an initial lighting power-density survey and identify opportunities.
- Identify and implement low-cost methods of improving your lighting performance.
- Consider higher cost options for lighting system power density improvement; implement if appropriate.
Step 3. Investigate automatic lighting control
- After implementing steps 1 and 2 establish what opportunities exist for making further energy savings by using automatic lighting controls.
- Install automatic lighting controls if suitable.
